Support for students in, entering or considering an IB Diploma-level English Language (B), English Literature (A) or Emglish Language & Literature (A) programme.
Support for students in schools which do not offer IB Diploma-level English Language (B), English Literature (A) or Emglish Language & Literature (A) programme, or where likely results will not meet student's needs.
Support for self-study students or self-prepared candidates. Hint : speaking English at home is not enough.
One-hour online sessions (on an as-needed or ongoing basis) via video conferencing targetted at the student's specific needs and realities. Brief feedback is provided to parents after each session or each block of sessions. This bespoke support may include :
- understanding the programme, its components, what is evaluated and how (markschemes), strategies for success, preparation approaches
- practice and feedback on individual tasks, skills or topics
- a specific focus on Writing and on developing and extending language range
One-hour single-topic open-enrolment group sessions are also offered from time to time via video conferencing. Group sizes are limited to allow for participation. Pre-reading and/or short task completion is usually required and will be sent to participants the day prior to the session.
The tutor has successfully prepared students for IB English A and B (average "6" in A Literature (H)), taught the first ever A2 programme, the Lang&Lit forerunner, metored Literature Extended Essay candidates (90% "A" grades and several subsequently published), has led teacher-training programmes and guided English departments on IB-preparation programme design and implementation. He has a Masters from Oxford (Educational Management), a DELTA from Cambridge (English Language teaching) and a Diploma in Teaching (Secondary English Language, Literature and Mathematics).
